Elma Akob is an award-winning global speaker, moderator and Master of Ceremonies. If she isn't on stage moderating high level dialogues, she's in studio recording captivating voice overs or in class providing public speaking masterclasses to executives and scholars. Her unique edge? As a PhD candidate, Elma brings an articulate and intellectual edge to every event she hosts. She understands both the art and science of event production, so she brings a presence, a plan, and a purpose.
Before every event, she conducts thorough research into key themes, current affairs, organisational context, speakers, panellists, and audience demographics. Her evidence-guided approach ensures that every word carries weight and relevance. She arrives always prepared, ensuring that every transition, every question, and every closing remark is intentional and aligned to the broader objectives of the event.
Elma's journey is a testament to when passion meets purpose. Her academic background includes a BCom in Commercial Law, a BCom Honours in Communication Management, and a Master's degree in Strategic Business Management — all from the University of Pretoria. Her intellectual foundation strengthens her ability to navigate complex themes ranging from sustainability and leadership to entrepreneurship, policy, gender, and development.
Her love for speaking began at a young age. At just sixteen, she made her first international appearance at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, where she delivered a speech titled "Dare to Dream" before UN delegates. She challenged young people to envision and build a better tomorrow, receiving her first standing ovation on a global stage. Since then, she has continued to bring unmatched charisma, professionalism, and cultural fluency to every event she hosts.
Beyond the stage, Elma is the Founder and CEO of Elevate Africa Academy, an award-winning organisation committed to passing on the gift of public speaking. Through the academy, she has trained over 400 individuals across five African countries, equipping corporates, entrepreneurs, and students with the confidence and communication tools to articulate their ideas powerfully. Her work is rooted in the belief that eloquent African voices are essential to shaping the continent's future.

When facilitating high-level discussions, she is extremely attentive to detail and able to navigate a diverse range of industry topics by implementing her apt knowledge and conversation skills. She is able to interact with anyone at any level, making her a powerhouse moderator. All of our partners and sponsors were impressed.
Over 200 diplomats, leaders, and immigrant trailblazers gathered to celebrate resilience and innovation and Elma made it unforgettable! She wove humour, heartfelt stories, and seamless transitions through keynotes, panels, and awards.
When it came time to improvise, she did it so naturally and confidently, keeping the audience completely unaware of our hiccups. Without a doubt, we'll be working with her again next year!
